Every extraordinary car carries with it a precise genealogy: a chassis number, a delivery date, the name of the person who first drove it. It is upon this legacy that Maserati builds its vision: the heritage of the Trident is not merely an archive to be consulted, but a living asset in which the Brand will continue to invest with determination.

The 1957 Maserati 200S, chassis no. *2406*- type 52, is the latest to receive the Maserati Classiche Certificate of Authenticity, and its story is worthy of this recognition. It is one of 30 examples of the red-liveried, aluminium-bodied two-seater, built between 1955 and 1957, that marked an era in international motorsport. This prestigious certification adds to what is already a highly significant journey for Maserati Classiche, which recently reached the milestone of one hundred Certificates of Authenticity issued to date.
Launched in 2021 in Modena, the programme supports the preservation and enhancement of Maserati’s historic cars. Today, Maserati Classiche is part of BOTTEGAFUORISERIE, a project that safeguards the Trident’s legacy through technical expertise and Modenese craftsmanship. In keeping with a tradition that remains a constant source of inspiration, the department works to preserve this heritage on multiple fronts: Officine Classiche oversees the restoration and certification of historic models, while the care devoted to archives and museum spaces — such as the Maserati Umberto Panini Collection in Modena — makes a legacy tangible and accessible, one that belongs not only to the past, but represents the very essence of the brand and the foundation from which to look toward the future with renewed enthusiasm, fully aware that its roots are the most valuable resource on which to build tomorrow.
The flagship of the programme is the Certificate of Authenticity itself, entrusted to a committee of experts that examines each car through an in-depth analysis of its technical specifications, historical documentation and the Maserati archives. This recognition applies to cars more than twenty years old, as well as to special models and limited series from the brand.
The milestone of the one hundredth Maserati to be certified was reached a few weeks ago by the 3500 GT Convertible Vignale prototype, chassis *101*505*, which took part in the first edition of the Anantara Concorso Roma.
Following the event in the capital, Maserati Classiche will return to some of Italy’s most beautiful roads for the Mille Miglia 2026, scheduled from 9 to 13 June, which will cross breathtaking landscapes, art cities, mountain passes, and UNESCO World Heritage locations and sites.
An interesting detail: this 200S, now certified by Maserati Classiche, was rediscovered and restored in the 1980s by the legendary Ermanno Cozza, regarded as the true “Maserati Historical Memory”.
Born in 1933, he joined Officine Alfieri Maserati at a very young age in 1951, starting out as a mechanic before going on to work in the Experimental Department and the Technical Office, and later contributing to the creation of the Maserati Historical Archive. Even today, after more than 75 years dedicated to the Trident, he continues to visit the Modena-based company regularly and supported the team during the certification process of this extraordinary Maserati 200S.
