“Continental – Schaeffler Supplier Days” organized in 25-26 November 2014, under the roof of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) with supports from Turkish Association of Automotive Suppliers (TAYSAD), drew great interest. In the aforesaid event held in Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, potential collaboration opportunities were discussed in B2B meetings between both companies’ purchasing representatives and ITO members.
Mostly suppliers who serve in metal processing sector attended to the event and Manager of Schaeffler Automotive Purchasing Department, Dr. Florian Schupp, remarked that new collaboration opportunities develop depending upon increasing production capacity. Emphasizing the importance of purchasing partnership established between Schaeffler and Continental in 2008, Dr. Schupp mentioned purchasing principles of his company and underlined in his speech that being among the leading technology companies of the world, Schaeffler and Continental seek for suppliers who can meet their expectations against increasing technological requirements. Indicating that Turkish suppliers in automotive sector have pretty much experience and technical expertise, Günter Fella, Manager of Continental Purchasing Department, stated that they target to expand their network of suppliers in Turkish Market. Representatives replied attendees’ of 83 supplier companies questions and remarked that geographical location of our country is also a great advantage. Schaeffler Turkey General Manager, Onur Karahan, stated in his opening speech that he is so glad due to contributions of aforesaid event it will make to our country’s export. He said that “Strong supply industry, qualified workforce and quality system in Turkey create considerable opportunities for our country”.
On the first day of two-day event, speeches, presentations and information, main collaboration principles and opportunities regarding Schaeffler and Continental companies were shared. On the second day, face-to-face conversations took part between purchasing representatives of Schaeffler and Continental and attendees. During these conversations, attendees took the opportunity of providing detailed information about their companies and shared strategies for possible collaboration opportunities.
After the event, Schaeffler and Continental representatives met with ITO and TAYSAD members in dinner given in one of the most beautiful places of Istanbul, historical peninsula, and enjoyed Bosphorus”.
