Volvo Car USA and Canada reports sales of 10,618 cars in June

Volvo Car USA and Canada sold 10,618 cars in June, down 24.9 percent over the same period last year. Electrified models — those with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain — accounted for a 34.7 percent share in June, a decrease of 9.9 percent compared with the same month last year. Year to date, plug-in hybrids accounted for a 27.2 percent share, up 71 percent from the first six months in 2023.

Sales in the US reached 9,304, down 28.1 percent over the same period last year. Electrified models represented a 35.6 percent share, a decrease of 12.6 percent over the same period last year. Sales of plug-in hybrid models went up 75 percent compared to the same period last year. Results were impacted due in part to widespread third-party IT-related disturbances that affected retailers across the industry.

 

The XC90 midsize luxury SUV was the top selling model with 3,056 cars sold during June, followed by the XC60 compact luxury SUV (2,461 cars) and the XC40 small luxury SUV (1,768 cars).

 

Sales in Canada reached 1,314 cars, up 9 percent over the same period last year, with Electrified models representing 28.1 percent of total sales for the month, an increase of 23.8 percent compared with the same period last year.  Year to date in Canada, plug-in hybrids accounted for a 25.6 percent share, up 99.5 percent from the first six months in 2023.
