24 Schaeffler plants receive the “Supplier Quality Excellence Award 2014” from General Motors.
General Motors (GM) honors 24 Schaeffler plants around the world with the “Supplier Quality Excellence Award 2014”. The awards go to Schaeffler manufacturing locations in the USA, Mexico, Brazil, China, India, Korea, Germany, Romania, Hungary, and South Africa. Prof. Peter Pleus, CEO Automotive at Schaeffler, had this to say: “The awards show that uniform quality standards of the highest order are common practice at all Schaeffler manufacturing locations.”
The award is presented by General Motors to the partners in its global network of suppliers that have particularly excelled during the last twelve months while adhering to GM’s stringent regulations. From a total of over 2,000 supplier locations worldwide, GM selected 310 locations for the coveted award. Of these 310 awards, 24 went to Schaeffler plants. The suppliers were evaluated against 13 points of criteria, such as quality and customer satisfaction. In addition to the quality factor, the individual Schaeffler locations also scored points in the delivery reliability category. “The awards from General Motors are testament to Schaeffler’s consistently strong quality performance. After 13 awards last year and six awards in 2012, these two dozen awards for 2014 are both rewarding and motivating”, said Wendelin Backes, Global Key Account Manager GM, at the award ceremony in Rüsselsheim, Germany, at the end of September.
