Orders for the new Lancia Ypsilon have been opened in Italy

Orders are now open in Italy for the entire New Lancia Ypsilon range. Available in three new trim levels, all with both hybrid and electric engines and simultaneously, series production of the car begins.

“To follow the official unveiling of the NEW LANCIA YPSILON EDIZIONE LIMITATA CASSINA, this is another important day in Lancia Renaissance plan. Orders are now open in Italy for all versions of the New Lancia Ypsilon, to be found at “Casa Lancia” dealerships in Italy from early June. The New Lancia Ypsilon is an all-new, modern car that looks ahead to the future. It is the first of three new cars in the strategic plan for Lancia to enter the European premium market,” stated Lancia brand CEO Luca Napolitano.

A simple range in three different trim levels

The range of the model taking the brand into the era of electrifications consists of three models.
The New Lancia Ypsilon version represents arrival in the world of Italian elegance. The sage green tones of the door and front panels, upholstered in recycled material, and the contrasting stitching on the seats with a tiled motif are counterbalanced by brushed bronze details. A refined environment that can boast equipment that includes keyless start system, parking sensors, driver assistance with Forward Collision Warning, LDW and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. An affordable version, at the same time fitted with higher-segment equipment. Elegance, connectivity, technology, and sustainability: this is the car dedicated to younger customers.

The New Lancia Ypsilon LX version is the greatest expression of the model, a true status symbol: on the outside, the 17” diamond-cut alloy wheels and glossy black details stand out, while on the inside, the velvet seats with a wainscoted weave restore absolute elegance, emphasized by the refined upholstery of the door and dashboard panels in MARM \ MORE, an innovative material consisting of up to 50% marble dust waste, recycled fabric, made with natural colors, soft to the touch and waterproof, made by Limonta and the startup FILI PARI. The specifications are completed by a wireless charger, front and rear cameras and sensors, Adaptive Cruise Control, and drive mode selector. The choice of the historic name “LX” underlines the brand’s Progressive Classic spirit. Created in 1966 to celebrate Lancia’s 60th anniversary, then adopted on the top-end versions of the models, the initials LX now return to the New Lancia Ypsilon, updating its double meaning: the number 60, “LX” in Roman numerals, celebrates the milestone reached at the time, and the letters clearly refer to the brand’s premiumness. The New Lancia Ypsilon LX is the version dedicated to the most discerning customers: complete in terms of content, with a wealth of materials and attention to detail.

Finally, the NEW LANCIA YPSILON EDIZIONE CASSINA represents a true manifesto of comfort: characterized by refinement and exclusivity, the trim level is designed for the more discerning customer and every component contributes to recreating a truly welcoming living room, inspired by iconic Italian-designed homes. The model is equipped with the S.A.L.A. infotainment system and Level 2 autonomous driving. The two 180° cameras, front and rear, provide an unrestricted view courtesy of blind spot monitoring, while the 10.25” displays show the maneuvering space around the car. NEW LANCIA YPSILON EDIZIONE CASSINA is always connected for any need and is equipped with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Lancia Ypsilon Cassina is the top-of-the-range version for anyone who is passionate about design and wants the best in terms of in-car comfort: it will feel like sitting the living room of a beautiful Italian home.

A modern design inspired by the brand’s history

Externally, the front of the New Lancia Ypsilon recalls the historic Lancia grille, the ‘chalice,’ with three LED beams that make it iconic and unique, on a par with the round LED headlights at the rear – a tribute to the rallying legend the Lancia Stratos, which include the letter Y positioned horizontally, a new design cue. The two headlights also frame the new Lancia lettering. The dialog between purity and radicalism continues in the Ypsilon lettering on the front and rear, the ‘handwritten’ characters of which on a glossy black background are inspired by iconic and historic Lancia cars that symbolized purity, such as the Fulvia, Flavia and Flaminia. Another prestigious detail is the Lancia shield, set on the C-pillar of the car like a true gem. Internally, the main hallmark is the brand-new Cassina multifunctional tavolino table, the first time one has been seen in a car. It is made of bio-based material and enables Lancia to create a welcoming and hospitable space, transforming the passenger compartment into an authentic ‘living room.’

Two new powertrains, hybrid and 100% electric, with segment-leading performance

The hybrid version is designed for anyone seeking versatility and respect for the environment. The car is powered by a latest-generation hybrid engine, with a 100-hp (74-kW) 1.2-liter engine and 3-cylinder 48V technology, pairing maximum efficiency with the utmost reliability. The engine delivers a top speed of 190 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds and at the same time extremely low emissions of between 103 and 104 g/km in the WLTP cycle.  The smart drive system automatically switches to pure electric, for example during low-speed maneuvers, reducing the car’s fuel consumption and improving the driving experience. The hybrid version is equipped with six-speed e-DCT automatic transmission and – with the support of electronic functions such as e-Start, e-Parking, e-Queuing, and e-Creeping – makes it possible for the driver to adapt their driving style to their requirements.

In its 100% ELECTRIC version, the New Lancia Ypsilon embodies the brand’s vision in terms of range, charging time and efficiency for segment-leading performance. It is fitted with a 156-hp/115-kW motor and a 51-kWh battery, making it best-in-class in the premium hatchback B-segment, as well as a range of up to 403** km in the WLTP combined cycle, with fast charging in 24 minutes (from 20% to 80%) or enough for 100 km in 10 minutes. The car’s fuel consumption stands between 14.3 and 14.6 kWh per 100 km. It is therefore ideal for customers who respect the environment and are interested in easy access to restricted traffic areas, those seeking greater driving comfort and the convenience of home charging, using renewable sources such as solar or wind energy.
