Leapmotor has unveiled two new innovations at its 2026 Leapmotor Tech Day, held at its Hu Zhou Battery facility, Hangzhou on Wednesday 16 September. Leapmotor launched its purpose-built new physical hardware, LEAP 5.0 New Mobile Space Architecture and the latest generation of its pioneering battery cell technology, Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) 3.0 High-Low Fusion Battery, both designed to underpin the next-generation of products from the brand, launched from 2027 onwards.

These technologies demonstrate Leapmotor’s goal to revolutionize the fundamental experience of mobility, a similar leap to when feature phones were replaced with smartphones.

LEAP 5.0 New Mobile Space Architecture in detail

LEAP 5.0 New Mobile Space Architecture is a step-change in vehicle architecture, ensuring future models will be the most space-efficient and intelligent on sale, while elevating what the interior of a vehicle can achieve. The first vehicles to use it will be revealed in 2027.

Achieving a 100% space efficiency versus previous architectures and a centrally integrated control system, a configuration that better meets the requirements of modern vehicles that are electrified and with an array of autonomous technologies.

The integration of an all-in-one air conditioning unit and rear-mounted powertrain, two previously separate technologies, increases cabin length space by 19%, reduces part count by 18% and reduces piping required by 30%.
A new vertical shock absorber layout with aluminium tower is more condense, minimising cabin intrusion and increasing front-row lateral legroom by 37,5%.

One of the most notable updates is the combination of a new higher roof and lower fully flat floor – made possible thanks to new skateboard design – that increases interior height by 63,7% while also creating an open, loft-style cabin that offers full standing height.
The architecture has been purpose-built for all next-generation products from Leapmotor, with the first products unveiled in 2027.

Cell-to-Chassis 3.0 High-Low Fusion Battery in detail

Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) 3.0 High-Low Fusion Battery is the latest generation of Leapmotor’s pioneering package-less battery and power supply system, which can now operate low-voltage functionality, removing the need for a traditional 12-volt battery. CTC 3.0 High-Low Fusion Battery has a seven-fold increase in low-voltage capacity and function over the previous generation, matching the power supplied by a traditional 12-Volt battery and eliminating a need for one.

When this technology is incorporated into next-generation Leapmotor vehicles, they will become the first road-going vehicles in more than 70 years not to use a lead-acid auxiliary (12-volt) battery, challenging the established industry assumptions that such supplies are indispensable.
Large scale deployment of this technology could eliminate tens of millions of lead acid batteries annually, substantially cutting waste battery-related pollution. The system also offers lifetime maintenance free operation, with no need to replace batteries every few years, providing owners with significant savings throughout vehicle ownership.

CTC 3.0 technology eliminates the need for separate battery modules, with the modules integrated directly into the chassis. High and low voltage batteries use the same cells and modules, share thermal management and energy distribution, achieving a complete reconstruction of the vehicle’s power supply system.

Traditionally, 12-volt batteries have acted as a vehicle’s electrical foundation, operating functions such as the starter motor, windscreen wipers, HVAC, lights, infotainment screens, security systems and even airbags.
