Opel has released the first images of the Opel Sports Tourer eXperimental Concept, also known as the Opel STX Concept, offering an early glimpse of the German automaker’s vision for the future of estate cars. The new concept combines precise design details, advanced aerodynamics and the latest evolution of the Opel Vizor, while introducing the next chapter of Opel’s “Bold & Pure” design philosophy.
The first preview follows Opel’s recent announcement of the concept car’s official name. While full details have yet to be revealed, the initial images highlight the STX Concept’s distinctive design approach and provide clues about how Opel plans to evolve its estate car heritage for the future.
Opel STX Concept Reimagines the Estate Car
Opel has a long history in the European estate car segment, dating back to the 1950s. With the new STX Concept, the German manufacturer aims to reinterpret this heritage through a modern design and technology-focused approach.
“We were pioneers of the estate in Europe as early as the 1950s. With the STX Concept, we want to show our vision for the future of this body style and introduce the next step of our ‘Bold & Pure’ design philosophy. The STX Concept is therefore positioned not only as a design study but also as a preview of how Opel could approach the next generation of estate cars.
Next-Generation Opel Vizor Introduces a New Lighting Signature
One of the most distinctive elements revealed in the first Opel STX Concept images is the latest development of the Opel Vizor, the signature front-end design that has become a defining feature of the brand’s current model range. On the STX Concept, the Opel Vizor adopts an even bolder appearance. A new lighting signature featuring precise vertical slanting lamellas creates a more distinctive visual identity while maintaining familiar Opel design elements.
At the centre of the front fascia, the illuminated Opel Blitz emblem remains a prominent feature of the Opel Compass design. The combination of the evolved Vizor, new lighting elements and illuminated logo provides an early indication of the direction Opel’s future vehicle design could take.
Aerodynamic Efficiency Plays a Key Role in the STX Concept
