DS AUTOMOBILES IS STILL LEADING THE ENERGY TRANSITION IN EUROPE

Among the thirty best-selling car brands in Europe, DS Automobiles ranks first among multi-energy brands in terms of average CO2 emissions. With emissions of 97.3g/km according to the WLTP cycle, DS Automobiles is a benchmark in energy transition.

From its launch, DS Automobiles has put electrification at the heart of its strategy selling a 100% electrified range since 2019. Through 100% electric DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE, DS 4 E-TENSE, DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE and DS 9 E-TENSE plug-in hybrids with 225 to 360 horsepower, every DS features an electrified low emissions power unit. In 2021, the electrified E-TENSE range represented 35% of registrations globally. And from 2024, every new model by the brand will only be 100% electric.

DS ENERGY COACH: aiming for excellence every time you brake

Developed with DS Performance and double Formula E champion Jean-Éric Vergne for DS 9 E-TENSE 4×4 360, the DS ENERGY COACH application helps the driver to maximise energy regeneration during deceleration. Scores are shown on the central screen.

“As a double Formula E champion and DS Automobiles ambassador, I wanted to commit myself to the DS 9 E-TENSE 4×4 360 project by developing an application that analysed efficiency every time you brake. Directly inspired by 100% electric racing, DS ENERGY COACH enables the driver to view their braking performance and improve their regeneration score. It’s an invaluable tool for being competitive in everyday driving!”

PLUG-IN REMINDER: a practical in-car guide

When the use of plug-in hybrid models is discussed, drivers of the E-TENSE plug-in hybrid range from DS Automobiles are praised as model pupils.

The average daily distance covered by customers of DS 7 CROSSBACK and DS 9 amounts to 72 kilometers with a 70% rate of use of the electric motor. Records are reached in Portugal and Belgium with rates of 78 and 77% respectively.

If the vast majority of DS Automobiles drivers make the most of the E-TENSE plug-in hybrid range’s efficiency, it’s possible to then improve the energy efficiency of a minority.

Downloaded automatically on the infotainment system of models in the E-TENSE plug-in hybrid range, the PLUG-IN REMINDER application shows a reminder to drivers who don’t plug their car into charging points enough.

A first warning appears in the guise of a suggestion after five days and a minimum of ten journeys completed without plugging in. The advice from the application is to carry out a charge to maximise usage of the plug-in hybrid power unit. Messages keep coming until a reminder of “incorrect” use after a hundred journeys without charging.
