Cesvimap Tests A Vehicle From New China-Based Manufacturer, Qoros
CESVIMAP, the MAPFRE Centre for Road Traffic Research and Safety, has been carrying out various crash tests on a new model from Qoros, the new China-based international car brand.
At the request of the manufacturer, CESVIMAP subjected the brand’s newest model – the Qoros 3 Hatch – to front and rear crash tests in line with the requirements of the internationally-recognised RCAR standards1. Conducted on the Hatch between May- June CESVIMAP tests seek to assess the extent of superficial, structural and component damage to vehicles involved in accidents, and the implications of the damage for the viability and costs of repairs.
The results of the tests proved that the Qoros 3 Hatch performed to an excellent standard, in line with several other models in Europe’s compact segment.
The Qoros 3 Hatch is a compact hatchback featuring bold, dynamic design, excellent connectivity, and generous interior space and equipment. It is based on the same innovative modular platform as the Qoros 3 Sedan, the brand’s first production car. The Hatch is built using the same high-strength steels and structural design that resulted in the Sedan becoming the first car developed in China to be awarded five stars by Euro NCAP. In January 2014, Euro NCAP announced the Sedan as ‘the best performer of any car subjected to Euro NCAP’s crash tests in 2013’ making it one of the safest tested in the organisation’s 16-year history.
RCAR is an international body of automotive research centres, whose primary goal is to reduce the human and economic costs of motor vehicle losses. This is done through research into improved vehicle damage resistance, reparability, security, and safety. Currently, RCAR has 25 members, spanning 19 countries and five continents: Europe, Asia, North America, South America, and Australia.
The Qoros 3 Hatch is the second series production model from the new international car brand. After making its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014, it went on to win an Honourable Mention in the prestigious Red Dot Awards in recognition of the quality of its design, and several further awards at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2014. It will go on sale in China in the middle of this year, joining the Sedan which has been on sale in China and Slovakia since late 2013.
