Records broken by the international tennis star
Born in 1996 and originally from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana near Lucca, Jasmine Paolini has established herself as one of the leading lights in world tennis. After an extraordinary 2024 that culminated with the first WTA 1000 title in Dubai, finals at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, doubles Olympic gold in Paris alongside Sara Errani and her victory in the Billie Jean King Cup with the Italian national team, 2025 has confirmed and strengthened her status.
On May 17, 2025, Paolini wrote a historic chapter for Italian tennis, becoming the first Italian in 40 years to win the Italian Open. The following day, she accomplished a memorable feat by also triumphing in the women’s doubles, again alongside Sara Errani. These successes took her back to #4 in the world rankings, equaling Francesca Schiavone’s record for an Italian player. With two WTA 1000 singles titles and four in doubles, Paolini is now the most successful Italian ever in her sport.
